Light - Vision - Emotion

Kathryn Parent and DavePaddick are a husband and wife team, life partners and soul mates. Together they publish their photography under one name "Photography by Phos3". Their home base is in Chatham Ontario, Canada.

They are know internationally and have sold their photography globally, won a plethora of photo contests...

🏆Kathryn won the prestigious - Royal meteorological Society and AccuWeather's 2018 Weather Photographer Of The Year Award by popular vote with "Ellie Cloud" 🥇

... and published in national magazines and calendars

Dave's "Threatening Skies AKA "Let The Spin Begin Was published in Canadian Geographic and The Weather Network's "Wicked Weather Magazine" 2014 and Calendar in 2025-2016

... and in featured in many news papers.

You will often find them storm chasing/storm spotting fo Environment Canada (CANWARN) and National WEather Service (SKYWARN) or driving down country roads photographing abandoned houses, wildlife (Eagles) and whatever else catches their eyes.

Their extreme weather photography is admired around the world . In 2017 by special invitation, they participated in the international NWS/EC "Lightning Validation Research Project " for the then new GOES 16 Satellite called "Lightning Mapper Program" - Bringing Arts and Science together.

Phos(superscript 3) or for Fine Art America - Phos3 - Where did this name come from? Well after a great deal of thought they wanted something unique without using their manes as many other photographer do. Yet when they want to take individual credit for their photo they can out their own name on it.


Phos - is Greek for light. We pronounce Phos like boss.

Superscript 3 - in multi-dimensional - it is perfect balance, aesthetics, tripod, rules of thirds in photography, 3 dimensions, the 3 elements (earth ,wind and fire) (DNA), black, white and colour, three component of water H2O, the number 3 is a funnel for energy. It's a power number! ... and Light - Vision - Emotion

Speaking of Light - Vision - Emotion , here is a brief description of how these 3 tag words came to be.

Light - There must be light in order to see. Photography is about capturing the light. A photograph cannot be taken without light.

Vision - Vision is the composition of the frame. It's the artist's inner eye, how we perceive what we are seeing and how we want to portray it to you.

Emotion - " Hopefully if we have done our job right, using light to capture the vision that we see, it will stimulate some sort of an emotion within you, letting you feel the story"
Yes it's a pretty deep thought process.
